Prisoner gets more time to think about illegal drugs in his cell
But a prison inmate serving a five year jail term for escape will spend an additional three years behind bars. In court today, Odilio Ortiz, today changed his not guilty plea to guilty for drug trafficking at the Hattieville Prison. Magistrate Aretha Ford after hearing a mitigation plea from Ortiz imposed the minimum jail term of three years. Ortiz is now looking at eight years in jail. In April of this year, prison officers found a stash of week in Ortiz’s cell which he shared with six other inmates. Ortiz took ownership for the drug, but when he was arraigned at the time, he pleaded not guilty and today he had a change of heart.
